- It has been a long time since
Macintosh OS 7 through OS 9 was main stream, yet there is
still a large community of dedicated users. There are
some good reasons for this.
- The hardware was almost
indestructible. It is still around and still
kicking.
- There were lots of add on's
including 10x plus processor upgrades
- The system is very light. On a
computer capable of running both Mac Classic systems and
OS X, for most purposes, the Mac Classic system will run
approximately 2.5 times faster. So a 500 MHz processor
running OS 9.x will run about as fast as a similar 1.2
GHz processor running OS X.
- There are people who are very
sensitive of screen anti aliasing and find that on the
Classic Mac systems they do not get fatigue and
headaches.
- They are cheap... Now. If you
are lucky, even FREE at a garage sale.
